I ran across this tool the other day and I think it’s definitely worth a mention for all you affiliates out there. As someone who has done my fair share of affiliate promotions, I know the hurdles and frustrations that go along with it. LinkShiftr is offering some really helpful solutions.

As part of their free version they provide link shortening on ‘roids’. Create a shortened link and then have the ability to rotate it between multiple URL destinations. This way you only need a single shortened URL to control your entire Affiliate campaign.

This is cool for a few reasons. 1- Link-shortening allows you to promote easily through twitter without exceeding the character limit. 2- If you have multiple URL destinations that each have different components (i.e.video, image, graph), you can split test the pages by setting the rotation of the pages.

The most useful tool with LinkShiftr is the option to track conversions. Most of us are stuck waiting to hear back from the person we’re promoting for to get conversion results and earnings per click. LinkShiftr’s Pro Version actually allows you to track all of your clicks and conversions. This not only allows you to get quicker reporting, but it gives you the opportunity to track your split testing and tweak your promotion efforts.

The Pro version is only $9.99 a month, so it’s a really risk averse option for your next affiliate promotion.

p.s. I haven’t used this yet, but I plan on it. If you beat me to it or have already used it, let me know what you think about it. Comment below.

Here’s one such example…

Some dude out there thought it would be a good idea to use a ‘Mad Libs’ style optin form, and he was really, really right. The optin form asked the same questions that most optin forms do (name, email, phone, etc), but he switched the format to read like a narrative. It even operated the same way as a standard optin form. You can click each field and tab through. It just looked different, and honestly, it’s way more fun to fill out.

I haven’t tested this form style (I plan to), but someone else did. They put the ‘Mad Libs’ form head to head with against a standard opt-in form. Guess who won… Yep, the ‘Mad Libs’ form supposedly increased conversion across the board by 25-40%.

This is living proof of why we should all be split-testing everything we do, because you never know until you put it to test.

So here is my call to action.

Don’t settle for the predictable results you’ve been getting for the last 2 years. Turn on your idea factory and start split-testing, because chances are you’re not at full potential.

If this doesn’t get you excited, then you might want to split-test some career options

I actually increased my opt-in rate 5 – 8% (depending on the site) just by removing the name field from my opt-in forms.

In the video above I show where I got the idea and my take on why it improves opt-ins. Oh yeah, and if you’re worried that ditching the name field will hurt your ability to personalize your emails, DON’T!!

In the video I also cover why that’s not a factor, and why NOT including a “Hi Name,” at the start of every email can actually make your mailings look MORE personalized.

Check out the video above for all the details, and be sure to post your comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and how it works for you in your business.
