Interesting topic – it’s amazing how quickly things change these days and it’s only getting faster and faster. Staying up to date with trends is half of the game in business today. Thanks for sharing…

Yes the web is changing but will it necessarily become obsolete? Probably not. Television superseded radio but most of us still listen to the radio. The quality of televisions has changed dramatically over the last 5-10 years but there will still be people using older models. Same applies to computers, whiteware, motor vehicles and everything else. CDs superseded vinyl and audio cassettes but people still play vinyl and audio cassettes. On the other hand most of us no longer use dot matrix printers. So some technology becomes obsolete whilst some remains but just gets used less or by less people. Marketers and consumers need to adapt to changes in the market and that has been the case throughout history. Whether change is market led or as a consequence of consumer demand or a combination of the two could be open to debate, however, one fact remains – change is part of life and that cannot be denied.

Hey Ryan, excellent rebuttal! Your first EOTW video has important information for all marketers and change IS a constant. Thanks for taking the time to track the trends that matter and sharing them.

Totally agree. Seeing it happen. What is the
answer? My Blogging App or join Amazon? Also think comparing yourself to most small online biz owners a bit of a stretch, but think your head’s up is best intention for everyone’s bottom line. Just like DOOM for the U.K.
    Don’t tread on me…hehe.

I think there is definitely a lot of potential in the mobile market but here in the US we have a lot of different platforms and none of them are really unified yet. Countries such as Asia/Philippines are way ahead of us in the mobile market. If you want to see what the future may hold for us here in the US I would visit Asia.

I think it’s obvious the web is changing we can’t argue against that, the web is very dynamic and new stuff is coming out everyday. For most Internet Marketers I would suggest to continue to focus on what your are doing TODAY to make money but it is very important to stay up to date on topics such as this. There is no reason for alarm but yes you should continue to monitor the trends. People want simple solutions to buying and selling and most of the web apps aren’t as simple compared to what a web browser has to offer YET. Thanks Ryan for bringing this information to the masses it keeps us in tune with what’s going on :)

It’s too late, the only way the web will die is if the upcoming “World Government” switches off all servers everywhere.

Again, it’s easy to get blinded by a new shiny bright object, so another gizmo will not make much difference to what people really want.

The big corps and their bought politicians may want to destroy free speech on the internet, but my guess is that they won’t succeed. They’re far behind and don’t understand what’s going on.

actually, I have been thinking about your video a lot since I saw it. And I agree, the writing is on the wall. But what troubled me was I didn’t really get what you offering. Maybe I should have watched the whole thing…lol, but who has that much time. so what the heck are you selling? advice?

Ryan your ‘End of the Web’ blog was excellent, coupled with your youth and energy to hype it up. Amazing, no one has spoken about how band width will expand to meet the demands of apps efficiency. Whether it’s Netflix or the smart phone providers (Verizon, ATT, Sprint, etc.) they will meet the demand or shut down. There is no turning back mobile usage.

Boxing promoters and other sport venues will be able to reach a wider audience by distributing a Pacquiao and Mayweather fight through a sling box app in HD. >

I’m receiving an avalanche of regurgitated BS (affiliate offers) 3-4 times daily because they were not ready for the change that has suddenly cut their business 50%. Why? – The End of the Web.

We can learn alot from underdeveloped countries as a previous responder mentioned Kenya. Japan (G8) is the bell weather. We are 15 years behind Japan when it comes to using mobile technology, though they borrowed the innovation from us (America).

Personality is the new selling tool. We must hold ourselves aloof from those who claim that social media is not what it is cracked up to be.

I miss the neighborhood grocer, personalized walk in banking. Can you see Bank of America (BofA) having an attractive teller as an app, personally thanking the customer via an app? I can. I listen to my favorite talk Radio station (KGO 810) using their app. No static, just clear sound.

To repeat, “the web as we know is dead”.

    Ryan:

I’ve ‘known’ you and followed you since you first started out online, having been introduced to you indirectly by our mutual friend, Rick Beneteau. You KNOW what you’re talking about, and the whole point is, what you said in your presentation IS reality.

Coming from one of the ‘Internet Marketing Pioneers’, who consulted, coached, and promoted ‘names’ from Brian Garvin to George Tran to Yanik Silver, Joe Vitale, Randy Gage, Neil Shearing, and many others, I can say with all certainty that folks watching your presentation – and just about anything you’re doing – NEED to pay attention and trust you!

These days, I’m in the mobile marketing & communications solutions industry. Why? Because it’s the NOW (not a ‘coming trend, but NOW), and it’s the future. Mobile phones, smart phones, and similar devices (tablets, iPads, etc) are FAR outselling computers right now. Over 500,000 Android-based devices are activated every day. BILLIONS are spent on mobile marketing ad buys, and the predictions for mobile marketing in the future are simply EXPLOSIVE … crushing just about ANYTHING that’s happening ‘online’.

Not to say that the Net is entirely dead … but if you want to succeed in the future, and NOT be run out of town by the Wal-Marts of the Internet, then hit people where they live – on their phones!

This is just one example of the trend … and it’s far more than a ‘trend’, really, as it is, truly, a paradigm shift. I didn’t predict the vast expansion of mobile in my 1st ebook ‘Peak Performance … Peak LIFE!’ 2003), but I did predict the growth of social media, and that so-called ‘Internet Marketers’ (95% of whom DON’T make a living doing a damn thing online but wasting their time and resources) NEED to face reality. You simply put new realities on the table and actually SHOW people what’s working, what isn’t, and what to do about it.

How anyone can balk at that is unfathomable. Opinions are one thing, but some of the rants, and then the ‘it doesn’t apply to me’ …?? Really? OK – let me know where you’re at – where your real-life, bread-and-butter BUSINESS is at – in 2 years.

Take care, Ryan, and keep up the AWESOME work!! ;)

    Peace:

    Ryan,

Spot on. The web is changing and there is a massive shift. Your comparison of the Amazon, books, and Kindle are also correct.

Look at the impact that it has had on Borders Book, Barns and Noble and other book retailers. How long did they dig their head in the sand.

The evolution of technology and the internet lead to the debacle of Blockbuster and yet people want to ignore this change. That’s ok by me.

When they find themselves scrambling or playing catch up down the road, hey, can’t say they weren’t warned. Thanks for what you do.

    Ashley
