Ryan.
Good content.
In an age where everything is now automated…social media included…it’s a good thing to note that a lot of social networks are now clamping in on “auto posted” material and deleting it before it’s even indexed.
I love Social Marketing, from Good Ol’ Squidoo to StumbleUpon, and it’s worked wonders for some of my sites whose keywords are highly competitive and I thought I’d never rank highly for… and the best part is, it’s all free traffic!
Can’t wait to see what next you have in store..

perry, I’m VERY impressed. You’ve managed to simplify the reality of social marketing as social party-going. AS it should be. Transparency is the new selling. Love your vids.

Wow this insight if you can even say that, is on par with the wisdom of maybe a 3rd grader. If you take advice from an obnoxious, sexist, redneck like this I fear for you. This guy sounds like a failed timeshares salesman, and internet marketing is code for scam artist/spammer. Wise up guys this man is a fool, if this video was insightful to you I hope you seriously revaluate your life. Wow word of mouth applied through social networking…profound…hasn’t that been the obvious stregnth of social networking since the beginning. Designers for years have been saying content, content, content. Duh. This guy should probably cut out his own tounge so he will never again utter this useless nonsense. Unless one day he actually wakes up a realizes his “wisdom” is sub par crap and apologizes to all of us that sat through this video. Jeez.

Interesting video Perry, how would you add keywords into your Social Media submission using your method? Because these site provide authority links – providing both would be ideal.

great video.
It was interesting that the money isn’t made within social media itself, rather building relationships and meeting people using social media.

There’s party at my place every Thursday night at 9 PM EST and I’m always giving away free stuff.
Yes, I have to admit I was trouble a social media at first… then I realized that I need to treat people just like I like to be treated. If people start sending their marketing stuff over and over I remove them as friend… I life is to short for that crap… I’ll buy stuff in heart beat but not when it’s pushed down my throat.
Thank You,

Thanks Perry, you made me laugh (and I needed a good laugh today) when you said “give stuff away, give them some dip and chips” I get stuck with whats the right thing to say, whats going to make the most impact, should my ideas be posted on this blog or that one. I really do have some amazing insights and ideas and know many would appreciate the content, I just want to bring people together with a resource for them to find the the people and resources that are best for them, that match their personality and business methodologies. Thanks again Perry!

Now that was an interesting video.
And it did correlate to my life – I have a nice home, I like to entertain, but I don’t like the social butterfly thing.
So, I have my nice home – my blog. I give cookies instead of chips. Words to Christmas songs, recipes, gift ideas…
But I’m not good at the social end of it – sending the invitations. Maybe I just haven’t found the right place, or the right crowd. I know I’m missing this piece.
Thanks for the interesting perspective. It made a ton of sense.

Perry,
That was, without a doubt, the best explanation of social media I have ever seen.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve had a very tough time trying to get my head around how all the parts (twitter, blogs, sales pages, etc.) all fit together.
Your “party, house, what I do for a living” analogy, was FINALLY able to get the light to turn on for me.
If anyone else is struggling with getting a grip on how to use social media properly and effectively…watch this video…it’s excellent.
I’m gonna start hitting the party scene…thanks for this!

Perry,
I have to admit I really have never heard of you until now – through Ryan Deiss – but HOLY CRAP, you “brought it” on this video.
Absolutely killer info on Social Networking and how to view it. You are absolutely correct about the $0.00 mentality – and I was hoping SO BAD that you werent going to say what EVERYONE else is saying.
Great job! I cannot wait for your next vid, bud.
BTW, you are officially making my coveted “Twit List” (simply means I am following you). Not that it means anything to get on there . NO awards or special prizes. I am just very picky. Ha. Ha.

Ryan, as always…great content. Solid thoughts on correlating how business has been done for ages and how to do the same with social media.
Knowing how to use social media properly is becoming more critical to success online…and unfortunately people use SM to spam. Perry mentioned the blog as being your “house” to talk about you…but the social media sites have a lot of tools to allow people to get to know you (pictures, what’s up, vids, etc, etc) and allows you to share “chips, dip and a burger.”
It seems that a persons blog could be used as your “house” or as the place where your free content (in lieu of more stories about you) is placed to give value to your friends from the social media sites.

Hi Ryan
Just wanted to thank you for the vid with Perry. Funny really cos I already have Perry on my twitter follow and Ive been to his blog and watched a wine guru guy speaking on stage that made me laugh and take note at the same time. Didn’t realize you guy’s knew each other….that’s a comforting thought.

I understand that these sites are there for you to make friends. If were to join all these sites… how do you find time to post on all of these sites .. and thereby create an environment for making friends.. How do you find time to do that?
When you meet cool people… how long do you spend just hanging all over the place…? You have not got unlimited time. Do you?
Not everybody is about real estate.. Are they..? How do you find people who are in the real estate..?
I like for you to walk everyone through how you get to find your frinds.. How long does it take..? Can you please tell me.. How many friends you have and how long it took you get that list of friends..
I look forward to your reply..
Bev.

What is with the anti woman sentiment some of us have careers, computer science and Multimedia careers and need help too. Comments like a few I hear on this clip make you less credible with ½ of your audience. Ladies ‘can ‘party’ too and it seems you would not invite any.
“Men might understand this more than women do. Well that’s great (mumbles) Guys are all about what do you do for a living, that’s what everybody talks about.”
So you ‘always make money’, need any help, from a woman? Or should all us super smart female designers get barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen during this bad US economy?
Wow, would you like someone to speak to your female customers, clients and party members? Do you have any or maybe in ‘1000 years’ after you get some research time? My advice is to try to be kind and supportive of some women as well. Without us, humanity has no future generations. Social meeting sites are use very widely for dating as well. Explore this feature, Perry.
All the Best of luck!

I agree with your assessment that, indeed, this video is the best explanation of social media marketing that I’ve seen.
It goes back to the philosophy long held by offline business people. And that is: to make friends with your potential customers, gain their trust, and become an acquaintance, instead of a salesman.
Also, people who continually try to sell you something, even during social engagements, appear to be desperate and/or greedy and self-centered.
Being friendly and in the service of others, results in sales, eventually.

Yes, but you don’t address the problem of TIME. It don’t have TIME to spend my life on Twitter, Facebook, etc. I am too busy. Plus, the content and communication seems pretty banal and boring. Any suggestions?

Your right on point, been doing social networking and Web 2.0 for two years now, and it does pay off due to the relationships you build. In today’s market “No one wants to talk with a salesperson, they would rather have a “root canal”.
Understand this and you unlock the door to your fortune.

Frick’in AWESOME. Never heard it put like this before. I have been trying to sell people things on Social Media sites. Got a good can of whop-ass in this video. NOW I KNOW how it’s suppose to work and I agree with everything I heard in this video. Straight forward – cut to the chase. No Bull.

Hey Perry,
Great video plus some good old fashioned profanity…
One huge benefit of social media is the social proof aspect of communicating directly with other (influencers) in your market.
For example when your followers see you and guys like Gary Vaynerchuk, Dean Jackson, Guy Kawasaki or whoever communicating back an forth, a kind of (transfer of credibility) also takes place in the subconscious of those watching the dialog. Powerful stuff…
Looking forward to your next video!
~Brett
