    Hey Perry,

Great video plus some good old fashioned profanity…

One huge benefit of social media is the social proof aspect of communicating directly with other (influencers) in your market.

For example when your followers see you and guys like Gary Vaynerchuk, Dean Jackson, Guy Kawasaki or whoever communicating back an forth, a kind of (transfer of credibility) also takes place in the subconscious of those watching the dialog. Powerful stuff…

Looking forward to your next video!

  2. DutchSchoolKid Says:

Wow, I have never seen it in a way that the people you meet will tell other people. What a wisdom!

  3. Benjamin Hulme Says:

    Hey,
Thanks for pointing me towards this Ryan…
Great video and I feel the same. I have been working hard on my new magazine using these techniques and there is no doubt it works.

I wanted to know though how do you actually follow more thank 2000 people on twitter? I cannot seem to get over this and I see you guys have loads of followers and are following loads.

If you would be so kind to answer this then you can find me email address at my website: http://www.DapperMag.com

Many thanks and keep up the great work guys :)

  5. Ambar Hamid Says:

Great video. You touched on the real facts on Social Media which most people tend to forget.

    Good on ya buddy.

    Ambar.

  6. Bob Jakobsen Says:

Frick’in AWESOME. Never heard it put like this before. I have been trying to sell people things on Social Media sites. Got a good can of whop-ass in this video. NOW I KNOW how it’s suppose to work and I agree with everything I heard in this video. Straight forward - cut to the chase. No Bull.

    Social Media = Party
    BLOG = House
Building Relationships FIRST = Possible Sales

    EXCELLENT!

  7. Ray Lanfear Says:

Your right on point, been doing social networking and Web 2.0 for two years now, and it does pay off due to the relationships you build. In today’s market “No one wants to talk with a salesperson, they would rather have a “root canal”.
Understand this and you unlock the door to your fortune.

    Warm Regards

    RayLanfear (google me)

  8. Mark Says:

Great video Perry. Love your style and your message. You made it clear. I like to tell people that I am talking to them like I would if they were in front of me. Not sure if I achieve it.

“This is a great bif freakin’ party” !!!

  9. Bob Bly Says:

Yes, but you don’t address the problem of TIME. It don’t have TIME to spend my life on Twitter, Facebook, etc. I am too busy. Plus, the content and communication seems pretty banal and boring. Any suggestions?

  10. Alfred Jones Says:

I agree with your assessment that, indeed, this video is the best explanation of social media marketing that I’ve seen.
It goes back to the philosophy long held by offline business people. And that is: to make friends with your potential customers, gain their trust, and become an acquaintance, instead of a salesman.
Also, people who continually try to sell you something, even during social engagements, appear to be desperate and/or greedy and self-centered.
Being friendly and in the service of others, results in sales, eventually.

  11. Joshua Sanchez Says:

You’re right on Perry! All these social gagets have their time and place and you put onto video what I always thought about social media.

Working from home and loving it!

    Josh Sanchez

  12. Vanilla Shower Gel Says:

The main thing to remember is that social media is about building relationships. In order to do that, you need to do something.

  13. Randall Keys Says:

What is with the anti woman sentiment some of us have careers, computer science and Multimedia careers and need help too. Comments like a few I hear on this clip make you less credible with ½ of your audience. Ladies ‘can ‘party’ too and it seems you would not invite any.
“Men might understand this more than women do. Well that’s great (mumbles) Guys are all about what do you do for a living, that’s what everybody talks about.”
So you ‘always make money’, need any help, from a woman? Or should all us super smart female designers get barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen during this bad US economy?
Wow, would you like someone to speak to your female customers, clients and party members? Do you have any or maybe in ‘1000 years’ after you get some research time? My advice is to try to be kind and supportive of some women as well. Without us, humanity has no future generations. Social meeting sites are use very widely for dating as well. Explore this feature, Perry.
    All the Best of luck!

  14. Cheryl Gonzalez Says:

I’m getting a “We’re sorry this video is no longer available”
    message.

  15. Plantation Caribbean Restaurant Says:

I understand that these sites are there for you to make friends. If were to join all these sites… how do you find time to post on all of these sites .. and thereby create an environment for making friends.. How do you find time to do that?

When you meet cool people… how long do you spend just hanging all over the place…? You have not got unlimited time. Do you?

Not everybody is about real estate.. Are they..? How do you find people who are in the real estate..?

I like for you to walk everyone through how you get to find your frinds.. How long does it take..? Can you please tell me.. How many friends you have and how long it took you get that list of friends..

I look forward to your reply..

    Bev.

  16. Cheryl Gonzalez Says:

After posting that comment…I tried for a 3rd time and it appeared?
Hmmm…a party…I don’t have time to be partying all day (20+ sites?) When does he get any work done?

  17. Blackberry Storm Says:

Ryan, the 2 links above both go to Perry’s Twitter account. Thanks for posting this. I just emailed my realtor who I’ve been trying to explain Twitter to recently. he needs to see this.

  18. Rick Says:

    Hi Ryan
Just wanted to thank you for the vid with Perry. Funny really cos I already have Perry on my twitter follow and Ive been to his blog and watched a wine guru guy speaking on stage that made me laugh and take note at the same time. Didn’t realize you guy’s knew each other….that’s a comforting thought.

    Rick

  19. marie chappelle Says:

You really understand the new social media, after this video, I think I understand it much better.
I am looking forward to more of your video’s.
    Marie

  20. John Samarin Says:

Ryan, as always…great content. Solid thoughts on correlating how business has been done for ages and how to do the same with social media.

Knowing how to use social media properly is becoming more critical to success online…and unfortunately people use SM to spam. Perry mentioned the blog as being your “house” to talk about you…but the social media sites have a lot of tools to allow people to get to know you (pictures, what’s up, vids, etc, etc) and allows you to share “chips, dip and a burger.”

It seems that a persons blog could be used as your “house” or as the place where your free content (in lieu of more stories about you) is placed to give value to your friends from the social media sites.

    John

p.s. I’m learning a ton in CB and looking forward to getting my first continuity in place soon.

  21. Mark "Dirt Professor" Daniels Says:

    Perry,

I have to admit I really have never heard of you until now - through Ryan Deiss - but HOLY CRAP, you “brought it” on this video.

Absolutely killer info on Social Networking and how to view it. You are absolutely correct about the $0.00 mentality - and I was hoping SO BAD that you werent going to say what EVERYONE else is saying.

Great job! I cannot wait for your next vid, bud.

BTW, you are officially making my coveted “Twit List” (simply means I am following you). Not that it means anything to get on there . NO awards or special prizes. I am just very picky. Ha. Ha.

    Take Care,

    Mark “Dirt Professor” Daniels

  22. Ryan Taylor Says:

    Perry,

That was, without a doubt, the best explanation of social media I have ever seen.

I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve had a very tough time trying to get my head around how all the parts (twitter, blogs, sales pages, etc.) all fit together.

Your “party, house, what I do for a living” analogy, was FINALLY able to get the light to turn on for me.

If anyone else is struggling with getting a grip on how to use social media properly and effectively…watch this video…it’s excellent.

I’m gonna start hitting the party scene…thanks for this!

  23. Carole Says:

Now that was an interesting video.

And it did correlate to my life - I have a nice home, I like to entertain, but I don’t like the social butterfly thing.

So, I have my nice home - my blog. I give cookies instead of chips. Words to Christmas songs, recipes, gift ideas…

But I’m not good at the social end of it - sending the invitations. Maybe I just haven’t found the right place, or the right crowd. I know I’m missing this piece.

Thanks for the interesting perspective. It made a ton of sense.

    Carole

  24. Tidders Says:

Great video, I have been wondering about this stuff. You kinda made it simply and obvious why it’s important. Thanks.

  25. Preston Says:

    Pimps.

p.s. I certainly hope you were referring to me and not Stacy with the whole “successful real estate investor” thing. lol

p.p.s. Ryan, thanks for saving my membership site with Continuity Blueprint. And I moved up 3 notches in the Short Sale Success affiliate contest due to your secret promo email (that I hijacked from J Adams).

  26. Dainis W. Michel Says:

You know, you’re right. It’s a big party! I’m about to go tap the keg folks!

    –Dainis

  27. Jayson Says:

Thanks Perry, you made me laugh (and I needed a good laugh today) when you said “give stuff away, give them some dip and chips” I get stuck with whats the right thing to say, whats going to make the most impact, should my ideas be posted on this blog or that one. I really do have some amazing insights and ideas and know many would appreciate the content, I just want to bring people together with a resource for them to find the the people and resources that are best for them, that match their personality and business methodologies. Thanks again Perry!

  28. Linda Yo Says:

    Hey Perry,
Wow, thanks for this very cool video!

  29. Maurice Says:

Great stuff! This is the 2nd time I get to see this video. I never saw the relationship about social networking this way. This information really puts everything in perspective. Now I can see how to market any business using social networking. Great job!

    All the Best,

    Bill

  32. George Battles Says:

    hey man,
    good shit!!! :)

I was actually looking for an idea in this area.

  33. G Allan Roberts Says:

There’s party at my place every Thursday night at 9 PM EST and I’m always giving away free stuff.

Yes, I have to admit I was trouble a social media at first… then I realized that I need to treat people just like I like to be treated. If people start sending their marketing stuff over and over I remove them as friend… I life is to short for that crap… I’ll buy stuff in heart beat but not when it’s pushed down my throat.

    Thank You,
    Perry and Ryan

  34. Christopher Swyer - Information Empire Says:

  39. Ray Posner Says:

  44. Nahyan Says:

    great video.

It was interesting that the money isn’t made within social media itself, rather building relationships and meeting people using social media.

    thanks

  45. Fred Hopkins Says:

Have some dip, have some chips, have a burger! LOL Now I’m hungry.

  46. Jbode Says:

Interesting video Perry, how would you add keywords into your Social Media submission using your method? Because these site provide authority links - providing both would be ideal.

  47. Jesse Goffin Says:

Wow this insight if you can even say that, is on par with the wisdom of maybe a 3rd grader. If you take advice from an obnoxious, sexist, redneck like this I fear for you. This guy sounds like a failed timeshares salesman, and internet marketing is code for scam artist/spammer. Wise up guys this man is a fool, if this video was insightful to you I hope you seriously revaluate your life. Wow word of mouth applied through social networking…profound…hasn’t that been the obvious stregnth of social networking since the beginning. Designers for years have been saying content, content, content. Duh. This guy should probably cut out his own tounge so he will never again utter this useless nonsense. Unless one day he actually wakes up a realizes his “wisdom” is sub par crap and apologizes to all of us that sat through this video. Jeez.

  48. Stage Hypnotist Simone Says:

perry, I’m VERY impressed. You’ve managed to simplify the reality of social marketing as social party-going. AS it should be. Transparency is the new selling. Love your vids.

  50. Phil Good Says:

    Ryan.

    Good content.
In an age where everything is now automated…social media included…it’s a good thing to note that a lot of social networks are now clamping in on “auto posted” material and deleting it before it’s even indexed.

I love Social Marketing, from Good Ol’ Squidoo to StumbleUpon, and it’s worked wonders for some of my sites whose keywords are highly competitive and I thought I’d never rank highly for… and the best part is, it’s all free traffic!

Can’t wait to see what next you have in store..

Incredible video Perry! Just finished a social media Mastermind Call for the members of my http://www.PLR.me membership site and you nailed this bang-on!

    Thanks for sharing Ryan. :)

    Ronnie

  52. Ryan Says:

Thanks Perry, been following you for a while, sincerely appreciate the great stuff you put out there. You chips and dip are the best!

  53. Don Deller Says:

This is a fantastic video Perry! Your Party perspective of how to build relationships makes something we tend to make hard…easy! It follows a principle I have always supported:
Say something Nice! Do something Nice! And, Be someone Nice!
I am eager to apply your practice with more focus on People than Sales. Thanks!

  54. Ahmed Abdelbary Says:

    Hello,

Is this a pre launch for a new “Plecher” training following “The Wholsale Traffic System”?

We were sold before the idea that Perry made his millions through PPC,and that his strategies are taught in the previous course, now it’s about social media?
Give me a break, and kindly before preparing for a new course launch, fulfill what you promised in the previous $2000 that you dismissed totally and left your customers in the middle of the way.

    Ahmed

  55. Paul Hardingham Says:

Such simple yet wise video. I’ve still got so much to learn and so little time to implement it all. I’m sure I’m not the only one! Full time internet marketer since 2001 but still learning every day.

    Thanks for the video!

  57. Sharon Says:

    Great Video!

I love the way you used the party/house analogy.

    Sharon Caldwell

  58. Julio Varela Says:

Have gotten this video a lot the past week. It’s awesome and Perry does an amazing job just telling it like it is.

  59. Michael Gaudet Says:

Yeah, it’s kind of obvious when you put it that way, isn’t it? It doesn’t matter what happens to the WAY we network, the basic rules will always stay the same: don’t get it my face, just be friendly, helpful and show some good old hospitality. Around here we call it ‘going out for coffee’. Nothing like shooting the sh*t, chewing the fat, etc. Great post, Perry.

  60. Scott Young Says:

Probably one of the best ways of explaining the purpose and legitimate way of using social media as marketing tool.

    Great job gentleman!

  61. Cheryl Gonzalez Says:

HELP! I tried to set-up a twitter account and ater completing the information…I got

  64. Travis Fitzwater Says:

Love Perry’s video. Since seeing some of his stuff, I’ve started instituting some of these things. Not only am I really enjoying it, but seeing some results in a short period of time. Thanks, guys!

  66. Susa/Second Income Business Says:

I think it’s time to do a little house decorating. I understood that Twitter and Facebook were the party, but I never thought of my blog and my house.

  67. Jonathan Boettcher Says:

Great video. Lays it all out nicely in a simple way. Too many people out there are trying to get people to act as spammers, essentially. Unfortunately, following their advice I’ve been a bit guilty of that too. Thanks for the heads up.

  68. Rick Nielsen Says:

That was by far the best explanation of how Social Media works I have ever seen! Great work!

  69. Sue Marshall Says:

I liked the way you made this social networking thing so easy a kindergartner could understand. The key word is “transparent”. More then ever people will know if you really understand them or not. And since you indicated that you do not understand women and probably won’t for at least a 1000 years you may be missing out on a huge market. Which gender buys more stuff????
