Very sweet! This was a well done video that certainly made it seem easy to create a membership site and I'm sure that the inside information is much more valuable, especially if the free content was this good.

That's a great video Ryan and I completely agree with Will's comments above. The focus should be to get your site out there and running first and there is always room and time to expand and improve after! :)

I'm looking forward to see your thoughts on where membership sites among other things are heading in 2009 on our Prediction Call!

At first I balked at using one common password, for all the logistical reasons mentioned above. The point should be that if you set this up quickly and focus on getting sales, you can expand the site and use a better solution once you've proven the market. Way too many people build a 'cadillac' solution before they even know if people want their solution.

Setting a password within Wordpress looks like a really simple way to create a membership site.

The only thing I don't understand is that you have to change the password and inform your members each month... but say you changed the password on the last day of each month and someone joins but then cancels their subscription on the 1st they would have just got the new password and would have a months free access.

Is there an easy way round this? Or do you just not worry that some people will be getting in for free for up to a month?

Thanks,

Tom

Fascinating video -- and truly valuable to blog newbies. Even I learned a few new tricks. I've blogged about this video and your other free videos at www.becoming-a-writer-seriously.com -- the post is scheduled to appear on 3 November.

My own audience are writers. Some will be turned on by your entire marketing strategy, which I myself find compelling. However, the price ranges you cite seem steep for the kind of writers in my audience. I've posed a question for them: what if your strategy was adapted with more down-to-earth pricing to help writers sell their own work?
