Traffic Tips

Well, it seems my love/hate relationship with the “Warriors” continues… :)

Although I wasn’t personally named, anyone can tell that this post is about me and my Continuity Blueprint training program. Normally I don’t respond to these sorts of things, but I take offense when the word “LIES” gets thrown around.

Watch this video and judge for yourself…

Silly Kids! This is some good stuff ;o)

  2. Brett T. Smith Says:

    Hey Ryan,

    You can’t please everyone…

I have been a customer of yours and followed you for many years and feel that you are one of the most honest marketers online today and I fully back you up!

  3. Chris Lockwood Says:

I guess if people can’t do things themselves, the next best thing is to bash others.

Certainly everyone who is making good money must be lying and cheating, right? It couldn’t possibly be from selling quality products or services, could it? :)

I love how the guy starts a thread bashing the membership site concept (and Ryan), then claims he’s not bashing - I guess the word LIES in all caps must have confused me.

BTW I went through Ryan’s membership program last year and attended the conference in Austin… I don’t remember any lies. It was one of the best events (of over 30) I’ve been to.

  4. Dan Denley Says:

Screw these people (forum dunces). They’re just miserable who like to take it out successful people.

“Ignore the dogs that bark along the way.”

  5. Ben Clemons Says:

I’m really glad you stood up to this. I didn’t even pay much attention to that thread when I saw it myself. I know you are a stand up guy, and the truth will reveal itself anyways. keep doing what you are doing Ryan!

    -Ben

  6. Gary Huff Says:

    Ryan,

I think you have it all wrong!

Ken’s post had nothing to do with your program. I purchased your Continuity Blueprint and I’m working through the first section (part-time so not as fast as I’d like). However, your whole front end of the system is identifying and developing the RIGHT market and product/service. Yes, continuity will fail just as any system will fail when it is based on a flawed business model.

The only real similarity between your Continuity Blueprint and Ken’s post? They both use the word “Continuity”. “Just words” - oops sorry political quoting slipped in here :o)

Thanks for all your great work and dedication to your customers.

  7. Theron Says:

Hello Ryan I’m not a internet marketer or guru type. The people that diss you in forms are people that don’t want to take the extra mile. I follow and learn from all you internet dudes. I like blogging and vologging on stuff I like and maybe the form cry babies need to find something they love do instead of trying to be like everyone else!!

  8. Richard Smith Says:

    Hi Ryan,

This guy cannot own the course as he would have had all of these questions (GRIPES) answered.

I own the course and am going through it at the moment and a lot of this stuff ( NO!!! All of this stuff) is covered.

    Keep going

    Richard

  9. Ronnie Nijmeh Says:

Ryan, you’re bang on the money with this.

I read this forum post a few days ago and wondered what REALLY went wrong with this guy’s situation.

For me, continuity works well and brings in that regular stream of income we all desire.

The real question is: how many folks on the WarriorForum focus so much on WSOs (warrior special offers) instead of developing a full-out business plan?

  10. Outsource Internet Marketing Says:

    Hey Ryan,

You’ve always been one of the most straight-up marketers in the IM field, and as a customer of yours, have been more than happy with the value I receive.

I especially think your offer to Ken was very generous - maybe he’ll follow up on his thread after doing CB, for the benefit of all Warriors.

    Howard “OutSourcerer” Tiano

P.S. …and you didn’t even mention Brian Rodgers’ site for real estate agents at http://www.busyagentpro.com/, a very successful membersite.

  11. Yo Says:

Yo, is there a point to wasting our time with this crap?

  12. Doc Durdin Says:

    Ryan….

You Rock Son… Let them keep complaining, it only promotes just how great your models is.. With some good creative marketing anyone can keep that loss ratio down…

    Cheers,

    DJ Dizzy Doc

  13. Miguel Alvarez Says:

Nice reply… and a free PR lesson. :)

    Thanks Ryan!

  14. Brian Owens Says:

I can personally attribute an extra $4k per month plus income from my SLO directly to the Million Dollar Napkin video, (which was free for everyone).

That BUSINESS MODEL not only made sense, but matched the way my customers wanted to buy my services, and increased my conversions.

Not only do I trust Ryan, I endorse his stuff, and proudly promoted Continuity Blueprint

  15. Thom Dickey Says:

I disagree with you. While it may cost under $200 to set up a continuity…Don’t forget if you bought into the sales page pitch you have $2000 initially invested so it cost you $2000 to find out IF the system will work for you.

Now if you are smart you will listen very carefully to the 12 minute site (http://www.continuity.com/12minute.html) and learn how to save yourself the $2000 (over priced) for the information.

There are alternatives to paying $2000 for the information.

  16. Luca - Reach Success Online Says:

    Hey,
I’m not a customer because the price is out of reach for me at this time and to be honest I’m not ready yet. I’m still learning the ropes. Having said that - every business takes work and a plan. It does take time, you can’t give up after a few months that goes for online and offline businesses. I’ll keep updated on this blog and who know later on I may be in the position to try out membership sites.

  17. Gary Fisher Says:

Good response, Ryan, and more than fair. It takes work to start and run a business — that’s news?

  18. Matt Bacak Says:

    Dude.

Great job on helping him understand!

I respect you more and more.

    Forum Fearmonger’s post everywhere.

The company I sold a few months ago, the
Real Estate company had a killer continuity
program - and it’s stick rate rocked.

See you at Dan Kennedy’s Infosummit!

    Matt Bacak

  19. Peter Tremayne Says:

Jeeze! It’s hard to believe some people!

The free info you reveal in your videos is worth more than most ‘paid for’ products you see today.

I’ve actually implimented your ‘Million Dollar Napkin’ method into my own membership site model … and it’s working already!

Having said all that, you’ve just turned that negative post into a sales promotion tool!

Good for you Ryan and thanks for those amazing videos!

    ~ Peter Tremayne

  20. Brandon Lee Says:

I am just getting started in this internet marketing thing. My blog doesn’t even have all the started content I want in it. But I am trying to start a business etc. One thing I will say about all these strategy programs is… GUARANTEE. I have not really gotten off the ground yet but there should be no reason not to try something since everyone offers a guarantee! In Ryan’s case it is one of the best guarantees I have seen…”My DOUBLE Guarantee!” Anyway, I haven’t even bought continuity blueprint because I am doing a couple other things right now but I will once I complete those other courses.

P.S. Dumb to criticize when you haven’t even tried something.

  21. Luke Harlan Says:

    Ryan,

Extremely intelligent and mature response to Ken.

Thanks for real leadership and an excellent product.

    -Luke

  22. Darren Scott Monroe Says:

Ryan this is below you. Emailing this to your list gives attention to people and critics that dont matter. The argument the person makes on the forum is baseless.

the greater your idea’s the greater the critics.
Dont do this again sir. :) Not worth it.

  23. Michael Rytter Says:

    Hi Ryan…

Membership sites do work and can be INCREDIBLY easy (easy meaning very little ongoing work) to make money with, using your “publisher” model, BUT…. you do need to do one extra thing…RESEARCH…you gotta have something your market WANTS! (Note…it is even better if you have something your market NEEDS, but you CAN still do very well even if it is just something your market WANTS!) Three years ago I threw up a little PLR article site. I stocked my site every month with 250 PLR articles Jeremy Burns sold me from his Article wholesaler membership site. (See the food chain in action here? LOL!) I promoted it with Adwords at a nickle a pop for about three months, spending less than a hundred bucks total. That site has consistently brought in $300 - $400 profit per month for the last three years….it was profitable from the first month! ALL I DO IS UPLOAD THE NEW ARTICLES EVERY MONTH! It was not something I wanted to persue heavily, so when I got up to 100 members,(3rd month)I stopped promoting. I still get new members as I am now using this membership to promote other people’s memberships…ie. “join Jaykays reseller membership site and as long as you are a member there, you will get your membership here at “no cost”….you know the drill…that is really effective because it seems like a two for one deal to most people. $300 to $400 profit probably doesn’t seem like much, but that was right out of the gate….and I spend about 15 minutes a month on this! It would be a lot more if I had kept promoting it hard, but I really don’t like PLR articles…in fact I don’t think people should even use them!! (a real Hypocrite, eh!) This site was just one of many I have done for fun…I don’t take it really seriously, obviously. My real gig is….wood.

Yep,I have been making a very good full time living on the net for the last 6 years…selling wood…on the internet. Mostly on Ebay in fact. Think about it! Wood! Really nice wood in fact. But still just… wood. If someone had told me, say, even seven years ago, that I could make a living selling WOOD on the internet, I would have called them crazy and tried to get as far away from them as quickly as possible! But here I am. Our Offline wood biz was going under at the time so we put some of our guitar blanks on Ebay, out of pure desperation, and haven’t looked back! Because of Ebay we now have a huge customer base of builders worldwide that buy from us direct. In fact…some of the biggest acts in the world have guitars made with our wood!(But that is another story….) I guess my point is, (do I even have one? I get typing…..) that the internet as a market place has completely levelled the playing field for everybody. Before the advent of the net as a marketplace, only corporate giants with their huge advertising budgets could have a global presence. Now even the smallest players have the same global reach. Find a want or need, take action and fill it! And yes, continuity (among other things), does work….

    Michael Rytter

  24. Ken Preuss Says:

    Ryan,

I am the one who wrote the post you are referring to on the Warrior Forum. :)

To be clear, your launch and sales page are not the only one I was basing this post on. I have sales pages collected from a handful of membership/continuity launches - some similar to yours, others not.

The main point I was making in the post - which I reiterated multiple times since people were taking it out of context - was not to allow the bold promises found on sales pages to seduce anyone into thinking that membership is a “magic pill”.

To clarify, this post was written before you put out your second video. Since that time you have certainly been extremely honest and forthright about the benefits of continuity but also the realities.

To clarify I never, ever, ever said membership models were bad. They can be amazing income generators, no question.

And since I had that $8k learning lesson (ouch) I’ve gone on to generate more than $5 million in revenue in the RE investing niche. So yes, I do get it. :)

Ryan, I’m more than impressed with how you handled this video. Heck I may just take you up on the gracious offer you extended me. I’ve done well for myself but there’s always more to learn.

    Best regards,
    Ken Preuss

  25. Michael Rytter Says:

One more thing…I have been a subscriber for years….the education I have received from the “free” stuff you give your subscribers far outweighs that of most of the info I have purchased….in fact, your stuff is so effective, you have done yourself out of sales, at least in my case. You may have moved the free line too far!

    Thanks for what you do!
    Mike

  26. Todd Says:

Great job Ryan. I must commend you. I’ve had a couple people like this talk trash about my marketing and products in the past because they what they THINK is ’similar stuff’.

They’re simply not worth the time, but I like how you did this video to provide more info to your subscribers.

It’s simply funny to watch some of these people who instead of learning from their mistakes decide to complain that those who are successful are liars. :-)

$8000 on a untested membership site IS insane… I’ve got 3 continuity sites and haven’t spent any where near that starting any of them! Spending any significant money on an untested concept or site is simply … not smart… when you can test and verify if it will work FIRST for a fraction of the cost!

Good luck everyone! I have 3 continuity sites and I must say Ryan’s advice thus far has been spot on.

  27. Mary Greene Says:

Here’s what I just posted on the Warrior Forum:
    Good morning!

Over on Continuity Blueprint, Ryan Deiss. . . one of the more honest, decent marketers to walk this earth. . . is brushing off the “lies” dust and offering Ken free entrance into his membership to see some new possibilities for his business.

    Controversy sells. . .

But how about trying more cooperation and civility to succeed?

Sure, we had a lively discussion, but did most people walk away with more clarity. . . or just that sinking feeling that nothing works online? Meanwhile, in Allen’s War Room, cooperation and civility is getting everybody more fired up and productive than I’ve seen in years.

    Let’s try it here.

Some gurus deserve to be bashed for ripping people off, and the Warrior Forum puts them in their place FAST. But when people as successful as Eric and others on this thread, when people as super successful as Ryan Deiss offer free advice, why not learn something from them we didn’t know yet about memberships?

Ryan’s free videos alone were certainly good enough to give me plenty of ideas until I can afford the higher-ticket item.

    Cheers,
    Mary Greene

P.S. Sometimes servers really do crash.

  28. Kidino Says:

Ryan, you already know this but you have a solid business plan. And I thank you for sharing this. Infact, I want to thank you for ALL of your pre-launch videos. Your videos sure lit MULTIPLE light bulbs in my head. (made me feel a little stupid too when you are pointing the obvious… “why I didn’t see it before” moment)

Note to others, even if you are not gonna get Continuity Blueprint, just watch all the videos, the napkin, the snowball, the publisher, etc… those alone will teach you SO MUCH about continuity and membership sites even stuff that others never bothered to share before. I don’t want to put a worth value here, but if you are smart enough, you can even watch those videos and run with the idea, and start building your own membership sites/continuity program.

So yes, membership site/continuity is hard, difficult, etc… good thing Ryan came up with this, don’t you think?

    Iszuddin Ismail (Kidino)

  29. FreeAdvertisingGallery Says:

Warriors can be a tough crowd. They either love you or hate you. I browse alot over there, but don’t post too often because you can get your head bit off if you’re not careful.

Having just become a recent “Deiss” follower, I’ll stick to
those who provide true value and substance over “fluff” anyday
    so I’ll remain a follower!

    Thanks Ryan!

  30. Jeff Davis Says:

    Hi Ryan,

I’ve been studying everything you’ve presented,
in your videos, and I’ve gone so far as to print
out the pdf flow chart, and I’ve found it to be
very helpfull, in understanding what I want to
    with my next membership site.

The million dollar napkin, “cleaned up” is very
nice, and I have it on my desk, right now.

I just wanted to let you know that I’m grateful,
for all your content, and I’m taking massive
action, on the million dollar napkin!

My heart goes out to the guy who failed, and quit…

I just had a massive failure, and had to scrap
two companies, but I never quit, and I’m here
    to bounce, like Donny Trump!

You can’t hit a winner every time, only 2 out
of 10 are gonna produce all your income, so
keep taking action and stay PRO-ACTIVE!

So, thanks for the napkin, the videos, and
the inspiration for my next site.

    Best Wishes
    Jeff Davis

  31. Jonathan Lake Says:

    Ryan,
As an old boss of mine once said “Dont let the b*****d’s grind you down!”
Experience shows that jealousy rears its ugly head in many guises. Mr Hyperactive Warrior should get a life! Whilst I have not invested in Continuity Blueprint I love everything that I have seen of yours and you are right up there with those who I revere.
Keep up the good work mate. Keep the flag flying for the REAL people in this arena.
    All the best

    Jon Lake

  32. Mary Says:

    Hi Ryan,
    Congrats on the Napkin Series!
I never understood the difference between a Business Plan & B/Model before I watched your prize winning video!
    Durrr…how dumb can one be?
Anyway, long story short, it has been amazingly beneficial to me, because now I can see where I failed in the past.
I didn’t understand the difference between my model & a plan…devastating, as I would scrap the plan & try & remodel it, but couldn’t figure out why I kept coming back to the same thing!
It was the Model I wanted that suited my “inner me” etc.
Now I am one very happy chappy, as I’m just about to rehash everything around a clearly defined model & set up a “workable plan to achieve my reasonable & scientifically proven” goals! …as the late Sir Robert Menzies, past Prime Minister of Australia once stated of achieving success!

Take note to learn & improve from the “crabology” mindset of how the “negos” think…the poor will be with us always, poor in mind, poor in spirit, poor in quality of life…
& accept with gratitude their contribution to your continued successes as you turn it into a positive outcome!

    Keep up the good work!
    Mary

  33. Mary Says:

    Hey Jon Lake!
Here’s the latin version of your famous quote above here!

  34. Wilma Says:

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks so much for supplying even MORE great content in form of your link to the Warrior Forum thread. There is a LOT of good information in that discussion that nicely complements your video series. Which rocks, BTW, so thanks!

  35. David from the Jewelry Appraisal Center Says:

    G’day Ryan from Australia

Don’t take it personal Ryan. Sometimes things just don’t fit for some people. Best ignore them (unless you simply want the controversial publicity) because it’s not worth getting frustrated about it.

I leaned “You can’t Please All The People - All the time” many years ago. However - at least this ‘Ken’ gets to have a FREE GO ;-) lucky ducky….

Maybe I should slag your system off in other forums - what do you think?

    Dave

P.S. I have started to convert some of my websites over to a continuity program using your ‘Floorplan’. Would love to let you know just how that works out in the future. Cost so far - Just my time…

  36. Tim Says:

    Ryan,

You’re doing good things. I know who you’ve
learned from (Glazer / Kennedy / Others). And
a student is generally a reflection of the quality
of the teacher. Enough said. Much Success to you!

  37. Lourdes Says:

Continuity membership sites have been working for YEARS for the big boys why not us?

Weight Watchers - Has anyone looked at the Weight Watchers site? That is a perfect example of a membership site. I think if a big corporation like WW has been successful at this, then, hey there must be something to it.

Here’s just three more few more:
thestreet.com you can get free content and/or pay for membership to access Jim Cramer’s information (he’s on TV people on CNBC or MSNC or something)

drlaura.com Radio personality and you can pay a premium to download or listen to her program on your computer. Hey, you can get her radio program for free on your radio and yet people are paying extra to download her show daily. Same thing many other popular radio personalities.

hayhouseradio.com You can listen live to their internet radio and/or get the same content when you want it via membership (also get special offers I understand).

Did you notice that none of the sites listed above are about internet marketing. And I’m not affiliated with any of those sites (wish I were, I’d be rich for sure) but clearly I realize objectively that Ryan speaks the truth that this “model” is not only viable but working, has worked for a long time (on and offline mind you)

Oh I thought of another one…do you realize that a gym is a membership/continuity business? It’s just offline (usually) but the same concept…and little work once you get the equipment and find people to help you to manage it.

How about real estate rentals…continuity too and offline!

We just all have to find something that the market wants. And no, I don’t know Ryan nor did I purchase his continuityblueprint program

You know the comments on the other forum were ridiculous…it’s like saying…”you can’t make money in restaurants and they take a lot of work. My restaurant failed because I wanted to sell pizzas and they didn’t sell.” That’s silly…there are a million pizzerias in the world and yes they take work and yours might fail (no free lunches here people and no guarantees because this is business and we’re too small for government bailouts - - oops getting political on you …sorry) but pizzerias do make money and yours might too and if not, hey try a chinese food restaurant instead.

Good luck fellow entrepreneurs! I believe in you!

  38. Trish Jones Says:

I couldn’t help thinking of Anita Roddick here Ryan … getting some free PR and I have to say, you dealt with this in style.

I’m a member of continuity blueprint and I had paid thousands to learn about memberships in the past and even had one site that I ended up shutting down. I was about to relaunch when you launched a few months ago and I jumped on board.

No one and I mean no one teaches continuity or even membership sites like you do Ryan. I was ready to give up on the model but after seeing your launch videos, I knew I had to take another look.

Ken, I’m looking forward to you being on the program and learning from you … despite the fact that you’re getting it for free you lucky person you!

    Trish

  39. Tim Mai Says:

Hey Ryan! Thanks for the free publicity regarding how I generated over 5,000 new members in 3 days on my launch.

And so that everyone knows, we are not a content based membership site so we do not have to provide any content if we don’t want to.

We are a lead generation based membership site and that process is pretty much automated.

Anyway, for those interested in how we market and launch our continuity site, get into our funnel at http://www.dodeals.com and watch our relaunch around Thanksgiving week.

    Tim Mai

P.S. Ken, I can’t believe you’d post something like that. It must be to create controversy and get free publicity from a hot topic. Hmmmm… not a bad idea. We should do this for all major launches :)

  40. Bryan Says:

Ryan, these pple are everywhere & saying things to get attention. Right or wrong will reveal in time from the choice of the followers. Whether they want to become better in the right or wrong path is entirely in their own hands.

I have learnt a great deal from your membership program. The experience from you in the videos and the guest speakers have shared during the bootcamp are priceless! Looking forward to more great product and courses from you!

    Bryan

  41. Ken Preuss Says:

To Tim Mai - we have several mutual friends in the RE investing industry and I’ve heard nothing but great things about you. The fact that you are associated with Ryan says big things.

Hmmm, maybe this Ryan Deiss guy knows a thing or two about how to create a truly sustainable business based on continuity after all….

    :)

    Ken

  42. Real Estate man Says:

    Hey Ryan

From the looks of things you have even convinced Ken, the guy who posted that message, and by the way, if I post a scathing critique can I get FREE access! No, really…
I learned more from the FREE videos than anything I have purchased in the IM niche and plan to watch them again, which brings up something else, PLEASE LEAVE THOSE VIDZ UP FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER MONTH! Thanks Ryan…

  43. Ian del Carmen Says:

Another hand raised here to prove that membership sites work indeed. I made my first million from membership sites and even helped a lot of my clients earn real income thru my http://MembershipWholesaler.com and a lot of little guys with my http://Memberfire.com

I’m not supporting Ryan here just because we have common friends like Tracy Childers of Wish List Member but I’m supporting him and even promoted Continuity Blueprint to my clients because the system really works!

    Ian del Carmen

  44. Rob 'The Genie' Toth Says:

Continuity certainly takes work… but so does making straight sales. The only difference is the passive income kick-backs. Is the retention forever? Of course not.

I’m about to release 3 different continuity concepts in my business. 1 is simply a change for how my services are offered (it will now be on retainer to a shorter list of clients), another is a typical CD of the month program (though it’s more than just a CD hence a higher price) and a third is somewhat unique. Do I believe continuity is important? No question about it.

As for anyone “bashing” you on a forum, that’s bound to happen. You have critics, cynics and plain simply bored individuals everywhere. That’s not to say the original “bashers” fall into those categories (I didn’t read the thread), but tight communities with habitual users such as WF are often home to drama… it’s the virtual landscape version of “office politics”. The reason you are where you are is precisely because you don’t get caught up with the childish back and forth of it all. Maybe that’s insenstive to some (as they want you to “battle” with them) … but to me it’s incredibly respectful of YOUR time *and* THEIRS.

Best of continued success to you!

  45. Marisa Says:

I’m excited to learn the secrets. I don’t care what other people say on other forums. I don’t understand why people waste their time with cynicism. Just focus on what you want. That’s it.

  46. ReputationDR Says:

    Ryan,

Nice job of handling and, importantly, converting this potential complainant. It’s what online reputation management is all about, and you’ve done a swell job with your video posting. These “guru” issues have been blogged about at http://tinyurl.com/6877qt in an article titled, “Reputation 2009 - There Will Be Blood.”

    http://reputationdr.wordpress.com/

  47. Terri Roberts Says:

Ryan… if I call you a liar can I get a free membership to your continuity site? After buying your stuff for years including Continuity Blueprint I sure hope your free offer to Ken is limited or I”ll be asking for a refund.
People like Ken do not deserve a complimentary membership and I am disappointed that you offered this.

I have paid you thousands over the years so I guess it just irks me that he would get a free offer. It’s certainly your prerogative but I hope I misunderstood what you said in your video.

  48. LiairlSoagors Says:

Hey im new to the forum

    and would like to contribute

    http://www.tiny.cc/A7gey

    Thanks

  49. Roosevelt P Says:

Ryan already mentioned this, but I wanted to clarify it to the particular person in the video.

It’s something I learned from Bob (Godaddy owner), just because you didn’t have success at something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. It just means that you need to do something different in your particular business.

In business or life in general, nothing goes right. So, don’t be afraid to write down exactly where you failed and don’t repeat the same task that doesn’t work. (e.g. tons of articles, forum at the beginning of the website, etc…)

In the WarriorForum you did mention that you had all the things a membership website should have.

But, it’s how you implement those features, having all of them in place at once won’t help the website.

    Hi Ryan,
Great job on this. I appreciate you taking the higher ground on this. Your response demonstrates characer that is not usually found in other entrepreneurs. I hope Ken takes you up on your offer. If not, you did the right thing,

    Hi Ryan,

I like you and your work but get over yourself … LOL!

    Hey Ryan,

I know I am leaving this comment almost a year after the fact, but I had to comment…

Obviously, this dude is a moron. And he doesn’t have 1/1000th of the marketing intelligence or savy that you have or teach others.

Because he is a failure, he wants to rant about the why he failed. If we all stopped doing something because we failed the 1st time we would all be working 9-5’s.

Dude you are one of the most genuine “guru’s” out there and anyone who says difference is a loser.

    Keep it up dude

  55. Kevin DaSilva Says:

One more thing to add for anyone who might stumble on this in the future whose just getting started, which you can learn from complainers like this one…

Maybe he would be successful if he didn’t spend hours complaining in the forums every time hit an obstacle.

If he spent the hour it took his _________ to write that post, on “TAKING ACTION” then maybe he would be making money.

That’s why I STAY OUT of forums, UNLESS its made up of my target market and I am looking to build relationship and knowledge.
